God is Love! 神は愛です

1 John 4:7-12

7 Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. 8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love. 9 This is how God showed his love among us: He sent his one and only Son into the world that we might live through him. 10 This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. How Much Do You Owe?

I hate to be redundant, but WOW! Sorry, I just don't know another way to express my Praise and Surprise verbally. God is Faithful! His Word is true and He is true to His Word. He keeps His Word and Promises to us as His children. I am awed in His Presence this early morning. He got me up at 4:40 AM with a clear sense that He wanted to show me something. Nothing wrong or bad, but like a Father who wanted His child to get up early to see the new bicycle that He special ordered. So for me it was not so much a new bicycle, but to show me that He is Faithful and to "show" me that He can do whatever He wants to despite what is going on in the world around us. Then it became clear that His Plan is for me to show my "bicycle" to you. Not boasting in what I got, but in telling you that my Father is also your Father. Your "bicycle" has been ordered and is now waiting to be delivered to your doorstep.

Let me start from the beginning. Here are a couple short, but significant scripture references:

Psalm 50:14-15 (New Living Translation)

14 Make thankfulness your sacrifice to God, and keep the vows you made to the Most High.
15 Then call on me when you are in trouble, and I will rescue you, and you will give me glory.”

Ecclesiastes 5:4-5 (King James Version)

4When thou vowest a vow unto God, defer not to pay it; for he hath no pleasure in fools: pay that which thou hast vowed.

5Better is it that thou shouldest not vow, than that thou shouldest vow and not pay.

David and son Solomon were kings over Israel at different times, but both were very wealthy. The two men "owed God" for all that He had done in their lives. Apparently David had some clear personal "vows" that He made between himself and the Father God. On more than one occasion David wrote that he "would" and then later that he "had" paid his vows before the great congregation. He was not ashamed to be the king and yet admit to his subjects that he owed something to God.

Most of us in our lives have made vows to God. They were made in varying sets of circumstances. In some cases the promises were made in a clear and calm manner, not bargaining, but out of love and devotion to God. Then there were the times of illness, repentance, or desperation while in the pits of despair. We cried out to God for help and then promised Him anything that came to mind to get His Help. No matter what the circumstances He heard our prayers and answered us. In most cases no vow was even required by our Father. He already loved us and promised us in His Word that He would do thus and so for His children. Ecc 5:5 warns us that is better to not made a vow rather than making one and then not paying it.

God does not even require us to make vows to Him. He just loves us. Period! The Word of God is full of His Promises. They are love promises. When man begins to bargain or barter with God we usually lose sight of His promises and begin to focus on ourselves. We are not so faithful as God. We do not have the power He has. We cannot see the future like He does. Most of mankind's "checks" bounce. We mean well, but just do not have what it takes to go all the way most of the time!

Time to pay up!

What are we to do now? We promised God certain things and we cannot possibly pay all that we owe Him. What happens when God "forecloses" on people? A few years ago we began to study about Prayer Counseling. One important point was repenting over "rash vows" and praying to be forgiven and to break those vows. This is just an act of faith in seeking God for His undeserved mercy and grace. Like the scripture says, it is best to NOT make such vows. God does not require them. We do need to face them. We do need to repent and break them so that they are not hanging over our heads daily causing us to hide from God as Adam and Eve did. They sinned and disobeyed. Then they tried to cover their sin with man made "leaves". We are naked before God. We cannot hide from him.

Jesus paid for our sins. He died on the cross to pay our total debt. We now have access to the Holy of Holy Place through His Blood, Death and Resurrection. We are now covered by His Blood. God sees us through the Veil of Jesus' Body and Blood. We are not perfect or spotless, but we have Jesus sitting at the right hand of the Father making constant intercession for us. In Psalm 50 David suggested that we make "thankfulness" our sacrifice when we approach the Throne of God. In my personal opinion two keys that we have are:

1. Honest and heartfelt repentance. No excuses. I am a sinner and I ask for Your Forgiveness. Period!

2. Thanksgiving and Praise. This is one of the main reasons we were created, to praise God.

Check Out Time!

How much is this going to cost me? Do I have enough money to cover my check? Many years ago Sharon spent 10 days in the Kyushu University hospital while undergoing extensive tests. On the day of her discharge I went to the business office. At that time we could not get the nation health insurance. I was dreading the huge bill that they would give me. I knew we did not have the money to cover all the costs that had incurred. I was trying to figure out how to get an extended time to pay off our debt. When the papers were handed to me I spent several minutes confused and wondering if a mistake had been made. The bill was marked - "Paid in Full"! Someone, somehow had paid the entire bill!

I don't know how much you owe. It would be impossible for me to pay all that I owe God, even with my very life. I literally owe God everything that I have! It all belongs to Him. That is why I praise Him, because He loves me and I love Him. I am just a steward of a rich life full of blessings and bountiful benefits. In 55 years of being a Christian I have not come near being about to "repay" God for all He has done for me. I have surrendered all to Him and now serve His joyfully as an adopted Child. He daily loads me down with His benefits.

Sorry. It is hard to stop. Ever try to talk to a child who just got the most wonderful Christmas gift that they ever wanted? They continue to chatter on talking about how beautiful their present is and then stop only for a few moments to throw their arms around the father and mother who made them so happy. Then they kiss the parent on the cheek and whisper, I love you Mommy. I love you Daddy. That is the way I feel today.

May your Father bless you today. Don't be afraid to open the door to Him. He has a bicycle waiting for you!

Good, But Tiring Day

Isa 40:27-31
28 Don't you yet understand? Don't you know by now that the everlasting God, the Creator of the farthest parts of the earth, never grows faint or weary? No one can fathom the depths of his understanding. 29 He gives power to the tired and worn out, and strength to the weak. 30 Even the youths shall be exhausted, and the young men will all give up. 31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. TLB

Amazing how these bodies God gave us last for so many years! The heart beats so many times from conception it is a wonder that a muscle can last that long. Some of us have put a great strain on legs and feet carrying more weight than is good for us, not to mention the circulatory system.

But some days we just get plain "worn out". That has been one of those days for me. Lots of things to do. Up at 3:20am to pray and call Sharon to check on her. Back to sleep and up and going again. Prepared chicken breasts and pork with veggies for a wonderful BBQ of healthy foods today, spent prayer time, chatted with some one on Skype. Paid bills. Bought office supplies. Began to go thru receipts in the office. I just wanted to "now I lay me down to sleep", but there are still a number of tasks to be accomplished.

A couple weeks ago I saw the photo of a minister who retired after 39 years of ministry. I remember when he got saved while I attended Ohio State University. He is older than me, but I began full time ministry before him. He was sitting in a recliner in his home. As we passed the 40th year of ministry mile marker in December, I don't have any desire to sit in a chair waiting for the Return of Jesus or death. I really want to keep "Reaching One Among Millions" by any means that God offers to me. As long as I have the health and means to live and minister that is why God saved me and that is why I am alive today.

I am feeling better now. There is something refreshing about testifying about God and His Goodness. The recent news helps add to the weariness of life. I don't recall a time like this in my past 55 years as a Christian. The memories of the Berlin Crisis, the Cuban Blockade, the Cold War with Russia and other global emergencies pale in comparison to this time of economic doom and gloom. I find myself having to consciously focus my mind on God, His Word, the Blood of Jesus and praise Him when I don't even feel up to it. There is a kind of spiritual buoyancy that keeps my spirit from sinking into despair. Praise God!

Well, the Prophet warned that there would be times people would be worn out and weary. Even the strong young men would be exhausted or give up. Several times today, without any praise music to
"set the mood" I found my spirit, almost without my involvement crying out to God for His Peace and Comfort. Each time that wonderful peace flooded my soul and spirit. God is Faithful and His Word is true.

I pray that God gives you special strength and refreshing today. Just pause and praise Him. His Holy Spirit will come into your being like flood waters. His Peace and Joy will overcome you and you will feel renewed and refreshed.

May God bless you and refresh you!

A Happy Man!

Psalms 32
1 What happiness for those whose guilt has been forgiven! What joys when sins are covered over! What relief for those who have confessed their sins and God has cleared their record.

3 There was a time when I wouldn't admit what a sinner I was. But my dishonesty made me miserable and filled my days with frustration. 4 All day and all night your hand was heavy on me. My strength evaporated like water on a sunny day 5 until I finally admitted all my sins to you and stopped trying to hide them. I said to myself, "I will confess them to the Lord." And you forgave me! All my guilt is gone.

6 Now I say that each believer should confess his sins to God when he is aware of them, while there is time to be forgiven. Judgment will not touch him if he does.

7 You are my hiding place from every storm of life; you even keep me from getting into trouble! You surround me with songs of victory. 8 I will instruct you (says the Lord) and guide you along the best pathway for your life; I will advise you and watch your progress. 9 Don't be like a senseless horse or mule that has to have a bit in its mouth to keep it in line!

10 Many sorrows come to the wicked, but abiding love surrounds those who trust in the Lord. 11 So rejoice in him, all those who are his, and shout for joy, all those who try to obey him.

Right now you have plenty and can help them; then at some other time they can share with you when you need it. In this way, each will have as much as he needs. TLB

Plenty – saba copiousness, abundance, plenteous

Prov 3:9 Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase:10 So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine. KJV Joel 2:26 And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed. KJV

I use these seven P’s for others during the daily JPN Prayer Watches. The seven came gradually over a period of weeks and now have become a part of the daily prayer times. Each is represented in the Word of God directly or in clear principle. These are not “magic” words which are used in vain repetitions. But these are promises contained in God’s Word. Our part is to agree in prayer with what God has previously stated is His Will for His children on the earth. In intercession we are working with God in declaring His Word and Will upon the earth.

These promises carry the authority and power of God when prayed and spoken in Faith, Obedience and Love. Each prayer promise could be expanded into long Bible studies or sermons. The Holy Spirit placed these into my spirit to use when praying for others. I felt it was good to share them with you. Perhaps God may prompt you to use these seven in your prayer times too.

May God bless you as you Pray and Proclaim His Word and Will in the lives of others.

How was your day?

Interesting! Ministers and missionaries are always telling you about their lives, ministry, family and telling you what you ought to do. Little opportunity is given for you to speak to them about yourself.

The other day I wrote about my Typical Day. At the end I invited others to share their day with me. Praise God! Tim took me up on that and took time to give me a full run down on his typical day. I have been praying for Tim for over 30 years. As I read his email today I had little "photo" glimpses of his dogs, his office, wife, friends and etc. Now as continue to pray for him daily there is a new "connection" that will make my prayers more personal and hopefully more effective. He is a busy person, but took time to respond to my invitation.

There are other kinds of persons. Yesterday one person wrote me a few times on Facebook and asked many questions about me and my family. I have known them for over 25 years. When I responded and then began asking about their family the thread ended. Guess they want to know about me, but don't want me to know more about them. Then the other person may be called a "roving spammer" who may do it manually or with software, but they roam around and post their links on the comment sections of blogs or even prayer request boards. There is no personal relationship involved in that at all. I have wondered who the spammers are. What are they like? What is their "typical day" like.

Seriously, I would love to hear about your day. You can go to the JPN web site (see my profile) and hit the contact us button on the menu or write to jpnpray@gmail.com. In the subject line write My Typical Day so that you email won't get thrown out in the email garbage bin. In doing so I can begin to pray for you on a daily basis if you would like. I surely would appreciate you praying for Japan and our ministry of "Reaching One Among Millions".

May God bless you richly!

P.S. The Heavenly Father is also very interested in your typical day. Take time soon to NOT have a normal prayer, but just talk to God like a friend and tell Him outloud about how your day went. It will be a life changing experience!

Missionary Survival

Strange blog this time! Not all blogs have to be deeply spiritual do they? It still may turn up that way.

Today I went out in the cold rain to buy just a few necessary groceries. A thought occurred to me while driving. There are great advantages to being basically alone with God for extended periods of time. Yes, I do miss Sharon very much while she is visiting the states!

I thought back on our early years as "missionary church planters" or "pioneer missionaries" where we enter a nation as the first representatives of a church or denomination. There is no support structure in place. Normally no existing church members to serve as a nucleus of the new church. Frequently a language must be learned. Traditional denominations send their new missionaries to language schools full time for 2 or 3 years. Sometimes missionaries don't have that privilege or luxury if I might call it that. The family normally spends a year or so raising their support for the term which might be from 3-5 years. Many years ago in Asia, missionaries would pack 3-5 years worth of supplies, toilet paper, utensils, and various other supplies that would not be available in that nation.

When we went to Korea 39 years ago we did not have the opportunity of shipping household goods. Two adults and an 8 month old baby arrived with 88 pounds of checked luggage in addition to hand carry bags. It was tough! But God was and is Faithful. I won't go into that story aright now. You can read about that story on the JPN web site in the Article titled, A Grain of Rice in Ssang Mun Dong.

Instead I would like to recall our experience of arriving in Japan 29 years ago.

We had to sell all our furniture including the toys of our three children ages 5,7, and 10 in a yard sale. That was hard. We made sure they kept the money for their toys and we assured them that it would be possible to buy nice new toys on arrival in Japan. They held tightly to their money and the hope of new toys. The journey then took many hours and required several plane changes. We arrived exhausted after more than 24 hours of flying and waiting in airports. I carried Stephanie in Narita airport. She was sick and threw up all over my suit. That wasn't much fun, but that was a part of the life of a missionary in a brand new nation.

We arrived in Fukuoka late at night and were met by the Mori family we knew when stationed here 10 years before in the US Army. They still could not speak English and we only knew a few words of Japanese. We got into two taxis and went to a hotel that was listed on the wall of the airport. It took two small rooms to hold the five of us and all our luggage. This time (10) checked bags and hand carries. We woke up on a Sunday morning. Guess what! Sesame Street was on the hotel TV! Hurrah! That was one important point of survival. Something familiar for the children. Then Nathan and I set out exploring in the area around the hotel. Wonder of wonders we found a McDonalds a few blocks away. Another point of familiarity that helped us with loneliness.
This process continued over the coming weeks and months. At times the loneliness was almost unbearable.

Yesterday I saw the profile of some friends who just went to a new nation in S. America. There were photos of their new house and a large green yard. In front of the house was their young daughter tightly grasping her favorite blanket. That is one of those survival points. I pray daily for this young family. I could feel the loneliness of their young daughter of how she must have looked at that strange new home. The mother also mentioned somehow having a favorite variety of chocolate. I noticed concerned friends asking important questions about being able to buy western foods in a grocery store. These are a type of survival technique.

Another couple recently relocated from an industrial area in the northern part of the USA to a very rural location in the south. Again some good friends wrote and mentioned being just 1 1/2 hour's drive away and talked about going to visit them. I pray for this family and felt a concern about their young children making a smooth transition to a totally new environment.

When we finally got settled into a house in Japan we had no furniture at all. That was not considered or provided before we came. We previously had asked intercessors to pray specifically for a nice house. Our house then had only been lived in for 6 weeks when the owners suddenly moved out. It as not fancy, but it was new! PTL! But, no beds, curtains, telephone, car, bicycle and etc. The Mori family ran a private boarding house for college students. They loaned us Japanese style futon floor beds. Then we had to borrow money from them to buy our first bicycle. It took three months to pay them back. What a blessing to not have to walk a half mile to the grocery store carrying food for 5 people. Then we got utensils and borrowed a sofa. We found a new furniture store that opened an a friend signed for us to buy some furniture on time.

We spent time as a family on the floor watching our 5 inch TV. We had great times of family devotions, with Bible stories and singing. Those were precious times that brought us together and helped with the pain of transition, not to mention building a strong Bible foundation. We would spend time talking about what we missed in the our home country and pretended to be eating those things. Soon Sharon began to find western foods and to make a lot of things from "scratch". Slowly we were able to accumulate toys and daily necessities. We found curtains on sale along with some room rugs. What a blessing to finally get funds for a telephone line which then cost US $1000! We got bikes for the children and were happy riding to the store and around the nearby rice fields. Later the Mori family gave us a used car. PTL!

The home schooling was lonely, not just for the three children, but for us as parents. We were only about 500 yards from a Japanese elementary school. We researched schooling before we came and were convinced that our children were too old to be suddenly introduced into the Japanese school system. I don't regret that decision. Many foreign children who are of similar ages are thrust into the school not knowing the language and it is a nightmare for the children linguistically, socially and emotionally. Homeschooling for an extended period of time is also very difficult in many aspects. Growing up I took part in many sports. I regretted our children could not take part in team sports like I did.

Wow! This is heavy going back and writing about this again. As we faced each challenge and pain of being in a new nation, society, language and social setting God was there with us each step of the way. We began English classes in our home which grew quickly back then. We had so many students that we needed to rent a room for classes. God opened that door in a building just 1/2 mile away. That room also was where we began English Bible study and eventually a church was established.

At this present time I am in touch with a number of people who were a part of that church and outreach. I cherish the memories of working with those people. God blessed us as we took small and sometimes very weak forward steps in His Name. He helped with each obstacle that we were confronted by. Two of our children are living in Japan, Jonathan as a missionary pastor and Stephanie an English teacher in Okinawa.

We five are survivors of pioneer missionary ministry. In fact, we are more that survivors, we are also more than conquerors through Christ who died for us. Souls were saved and called into the ministry. Some are still awaiting their marching orders to launch out into ministry. Some have gone on to Heaven. We are here still keeping on. Now maybe more focused than ever before. Getting a little older, but better gray than grave!

Tonight I am going to try one of those survival tricks. Yesterday I spoke to two of Sharon's relatives. They were going out to the Olive Garden to eat. One place I always try to get to when visiting the USA. I have some frozen spaghetti Lori made and a BBQ chicken breast from Tues. I am going to pretend I am at the Olive Garden eating my favorite dish, Parmesan Chicken. Will not have their dressing, but I can pretend. Can make my own garlic bread. I just won't be able to fake the peach ice tea.

I trust you have a good day in the Lord. Thanks for joining me in some ramblings about the survival side of front line missions. It is very different from those week long journeys that many are taking each year. I say Praise God and Thank You Jesus for every journey that is taken however long or short that it may be as long as Jesus' Name is shared and God gets the Glory. But please don't get those trips mixed up with the long term, frequently life long commitment to taking the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the people of a different nation, language, culture and society. It is an entirely different ball game. Despite all the information that is available on the Internet and the opportunities for brief sojourns into another country please don't forget the thousands of missionaries that are presently serving long term on mission fields. Pray for them. Pray for their children. Support them with finances. Write and encourage them. Take your vacation and spend a week or two with them helping them in their labors.

I nearly wept while flying in the USA last year when a stewardess asked the passengers to give a show of appreciation to the US military members who were on the flight. A rousing applause was given to those young people. It was well deserved. Those of us who served in the military in Vietnam were not afforded applause on airplanes. We frequently were faced with anti-war protesters in the airports we arrived at. Many of us would change out of uniform as soon as possible to avoid unwanted attention.

Finally, I recalled the story of the old missionary who had just retired from a life time of service in Africa. As his ship docked in New York harbor he noticed a huge celebration that met the ship. Soon he realized it was for a famous person disembarking from the ship. A wave of sadness swept over him as he noticed no one was there to welcome him home. At that moment the Lord spoke to him and said, "My son you are not home yet"!

You are right! After 40 years of ministry, mostly in Asia, there is still loneliness to be faced and overcome. I confess. It still hurts or stings to realize how many good Christians, ministers, family and friends remain uncommitted, unattached, unconcerned, unburdened and seemingly uncaring. These are good honest hearted people! Judging? No just telling the painful truth. I watched the news for a few minutes today as one of the new government appointees gave a news conference. In regards to racial prejudice, he called America a nation of cowards. I almost fell off the sofa. How unwise to speak so negatively when just taking office. I too have been warned and cautioned by many about being too negative or straight forward.

If my manner of speaking has offended you please forgive me. I am sorry that I cannot apologize for the facts that are just plain truth in my opinion. Obviously, you care or you would not be reading this blog. I appreciate your prayers and any financial support that you may feel directed to send to help reach the nation of Japan with the Gospel. Please try to understand my heart and the hearts of others who have and still are dedicating their life to try to bring a little light into spiritually dark places.

May God bless you richly!

Typical Day

2 Tim 3:10 You, however, know all about my teaching, my way of life, my purpose, faith, patience, love, endurance, NIV

The elder apostle Paul wrote to the younger Timothy reminding him that he had kept nothing back. He knew all there was to know about Paul. Yesterday I wrote that "We are being Watched". This may be a sort of continuation of that theme. What does a "full time" prayer intercessor do during a typical day? I don't know many of them. I can only write from my own personal perspective. Sharon has now been in the USA due to her father's illness for a month. So I am really "full time" with no distractions as Paul wrote about. I am NOT saying being married "distracts" us from serving God. A lot of believers are really busy with a lot of daily activities. Just take a close look at Facebook or Myspace and read how many things are going on that are posted on an open network.

Well, recently I have been up until 1-2 am. I rise between 7-8 am when up that late. Otherwise I have been getting up between 5-7 am. The first thing to be done is a personal anointing. That is quite detailed and I won't take up your time with that now. It may come out again in a future blog or JPN article with scriptural references. I spend time checking Facebook, Youtube, Myspace and recently I have joined Plaxo and Linkedin. All of this takes me up to the 10:00 am (JST) JPN Prayer Watch. Lately I have been paging down over all the friends on Facebook praying for each one at a time.
Eph 1:16 Cease not to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers; KJV Also 1 Thess 1:2 and Philemon 4.

There are time when individuals are simply "mentioned" to the Lord in prayer time. Then there are those special Rhema prompting to pause and spend time interceding for that person. In the three verses listed above Paul also refers to the fact that he gives "thanks" to God for those that he prays for. In 1 Thess 1:3 Paul reminds them that he "remembers" their service to the Lord. Praying daily intercessory prayers for others helps us to keep them in mind on a daily basis. I recall times in the past when I would go for weeks without even thinking about or remembering a friend. Now with the use of a personal prayer list those friends are kept before me daily. I have the opportunity and responsibility to bring them up before the Lord on a daily basis. This practice may seem strange or even unnecessary to many other believers. But this is what the Lord has called me to do. I enjoy it immensely. The time with the Lord in prayer is precious. The daily joy of recalling the names of hundreds of friends and family members cannot be matched by many other activities.

1 Thess 3:10 Night and day we pray most earnestly that we may see you again and supply what is lacking in your faith. NIV Paul writes about all the church duties that fell upon him, yet he spent much time in prayer.

Ps 55:17 Evening, and morning, and at noon, will I pray, and cry aloud: and he shall hear my voice.
KJV We might say David was well occupied as a King, but he writes that he prayed three times a day.

1 Sam 12:23 Moreover as for me, God forbid that I should sin against the LORD in ceasing to pray for you: but I will teach you the good and the right way: KJV Even in his twilight years Samuel felt the need to pray for Israel was so important that it would be considered a sin if he failed to pray for them.

Dan 6:10 Now when Daniel knew that the writing was signed, he went into his house; and his windows being open in his chamber toward Jerusalem, he kneeled upon his knees three times a day, and prayed, and gave thanks before his God, as he did aforetime. KJV Even in the midst of persecution and danger Daniel ceased not to pray three times a day as in the past.

For some reason I almost feel it is necessary to "defend" the practice of praying daily at set times in addition to when specially promoted by the Holy Spirit. There just is no substitute for prayer. There are no short cuts. It cannot be delegated to others to do for us. Daily intercessory prayer should be a part of every believer's life. Obviously, many have God ordained, family oriented and job related duties that prevent long sessions of prayer three times a day. Sharon's uncle Les was a cook in the US Army in Germany and he mentioned praying with his head inside a garbage can while he was scrubbing it out. All of us can and must set aside and allot time to be alone with God whether is it driving to work, during a long bath, after the childlren are in bed, or early in the morning.

A couple weeks ago I signed up with Skype.com in Japan. For just Yen 685 or US $ 7 I can make unlimited Skype calls to landlines or cell phones in the USA. Today I spent three hours on the phone. What were those calls about? Glad you asked.

1. I called Sharon to check on how her visit in Chicago was going. Her cousin is ill. Of course, I told her that I love her and miss her very much.

2. I checked on a church member who underwent an unpleasant diagnostic procedure. We rejoiced to learn the test results were positive. I also checked on the welfare of their family.

3. I spent 45 minutes in a counseling session that came at an important time in the life of that person.

4. I called a minister friend to find out about a business trip they would be taking soon.

5. I made several calls between Panama and Korea helping out a relative with a business matter giving Korean language assistance.

6. I checked on a Facebook friend/relative that wrote about some medical problems to let them know I was agreeing with them over that.

7. These are just a few of the many calls that take place during a typical day. I told someone today that I am feeling like a "Global Pastor". I loved pastoring in the USA, Korea, and Japan, but now I can minister to people all over the world on a daily basis, but phone, video call, Facebook, Myspace, Youtube and other platforms.

Finally I get around to making a late breakfast, washing clothes, (very little house work) and the normal chores one does when they are home alone for an extended period of time.

The evening JPN Prayer Watch is a very special time. That is when I take out my approx 10 page long personal prayer list and spend 1-2 hours alone with the Lord. That list has grown over the period of many years. It now includes all the nations that JPN web site reaches (88 that we know of) and the Peace Prayer Network's donor churches and individual donors. Also I use the printed list of prayer requests are prayed over at that time also.

There are late night phone calls too and emails to be answered. Sometimes I get to do video Skype with family who live far away. All of this winds down about 1-2 am lately. It is time to say Good Night to my wonderful Heavenly Father. As I play praise music it doesn't take long to fall asleep. I miss Sharon and I miss many friends and family members that live far away.

But I now have a daily opportunity to:

Remember them
Mention them to the Father
Give thanks for them
Interceede for them
Sometimes travail for them
See them on video calls
Talk by phone
Chat on AOL
Chat or write emails and posts on Facebook
Pray for them through videos on Youtube

How about you? What is your typical day like? Sorry to spend so much time talking about mine. Please write me back and share your prayer needs and daily life story too.

God bless you as you pray!
