Isa 40:27-31
28 Don't you yet understand? Don't you know by now that the everlasting God, the Creator of the farthest parts of the earth, never grows faint or weary? No one can fathom the depths of his understanding. 29 He gives power to the tired and worn out, and strength to the weak. 30 Even the youths shall be exhausted, and the young men will all give up. 31 But they that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength. They shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint. TLB
Amazing how these bodies God gave us last for so many years! The heart beats so many times from conception it is a wonder that a muscle can last that long. Some of us have put a great strain on legs and feet carrying more weight than is good for us, not to mention the circulatory system.
But some days we just get plain "worn out". That has been one of those days for me. Lots of things to do. Up at 3:20am to pray and call Sharon to check on her. Back to sleep and up and going again. Prepared chicken breasts and pork with veggies for a wonderful BBQ of healthy foods today, spent prayer time, chatted with some one on Skype. Paid bills. Bought office supplies. Began to go thru receipts in the office. I just wanted to "now I lay me down to sleep", but there are still a number of tasks to be accomplished.
A couple weeks ago I saw the photo of a minister who retired after 39 years of ministry. I remember when he got saved while I attended Ohio State University. He is older than me, but I began full time ministry before him. He was sitting in a recliner in his home. As we passed the 40th year of ministry mile marker in December, I don't have any desire to sit in a chair waiting for the Return of Jesus or death. I really want to keep "Reaching One Among Millions" by any means that God offers to me. As long as I have the health and means to live and minister that is why God saved me and that is why I am alive today.
I am feeling better now. There is something refreshing about testifying about God and His Goodness. The recent news helps add to the weariness of life. I don't recall a time like this in my past 55 years as a Christian. The memories of the Berlin Crisis, the Cuban Blockade, the Cold War with Russia and other global emergencies pale in comparison to this time of economic doom and gloom. I find myself having to consciously focus my mind on God, His Word, the Blood of Jesus and praise Him when I don't even feel up to it. There is a kind of spiritual buoyancy that keeps my spirit from sinking into despair. Praise God!
Well, the Prophet warned that there would be times people would be worn out and weary. Even the strong young men would be exhausted or give up. Several times today, without any praise music to
"set the mood" I found my spirit, almost without my involvement crying out to God for His Peace and Comfort. Each time that wonderful peace flooded my soul and spirit. God is Faithful and His Word is true.
I pray that God gives you special strength and refreshing today. Just pause and praise Him. His Holy Spirit will come into your being like flood waters. His Peace and Joy will overcome you and you will feel renewed and refreshed.
May God bless you and refresh you!
